Broadband and Wireless Technology

Broadband Technology

Sprint Broadband DirectSM is a broadband access service. Broadband is a transmission technology that passes data with a bandwidth, or capacity, greater than your typical phone line.

The result: speedy, consistent service.

Not cable or DSL

The Sprint Broadband Direct advantage is that it's wireless, so you don't have to rely on the cable company or the local phone system for service. As a result, Sprint is able to provide broadband service to locations that aren't currently served by many cable or DSL providers.

Wireless Technology

Unlike DSL and cable services, Sprint Broadband Direct is a wireless service.

Users with a "line of sight" to the Sprint transmitter should be able to access this product. ("Line of sight" doesn't mean you need to see the transmitter itself, but rather that the signals can travel directly between your location and the transmitter.)

The radio transmission tower can send and receive high-speed Internet data to customers that are almost 35 miles away.

The result: The speed of your service does not depend upon equipment location, as it can with cable or DSL.
